Dr. Alaa al-Din al-Chomari
Dr Alaa al-Din al-Chomari has been a research assistant at the Research Centre for Islamic Numismatics from 2020 to 2023 as part of a project funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation (sikka:būya). He is currently involved in various publication projects, for example the publication project Numismatic History of the Arabian Peninsula since January 2024.
As a scholarship holder of the Gerda Henkel Foundation, he has been coordinating a project to record coins found in Syria since December 2024.
Alaa al-Din al-Chomari received his PhD from the University of Paris 1 - Panthéon Sorbonne in the Department of Archaeology with the thesis Abbasid coins in Al-Djazira (Syria): The hoard of Buseyra (Ḳarḳīsīya).
