Interfaculty Institute of Biochemistry
Bewerbungsfrist: 01.06.2025
The University of Tübingen, Faculty of Science, DFG Research Training Group (GRK 2381), has an open call for a fully funded
Doctoral position in Biomedicine (m/f/d, E13 TV-L, 65%)
The PhD position (Dr. rer. nat.) in Biomedicine/Vascular Biology is available from July 1st, 2025 at the Interfaculty Institute of Biochemistry (IFIB), University of Tübingen, Germany.
The initial fixed-term contract will be for 3 years.
The application deadline is June 1st, 2025.
The position is embedded in the Research Training Group “cGMP: From Bedside to Bench” (Graduiertenkolleg GRK 2381) funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). This research consortium is investigating the role of the cellular signaling molecule cGMP in an interdisciplinary approach.
We are looking for a highly motivated doctoral researcher to join project P4 “Crosstalk of cGMP and extracellular matrix signaling in atherosclerosis” (supervised by Dr. Susanne Feil). This project uses state-of-the-art transgenic mouse models and imaging technologies to determine how cardiovascular risk genes control the pathological behavior of vascular smooth muscle cells in atherosclerotic lesions. The PhD program supports an international internship in the laboratory of our collaborative partner at Tufts University in Boston, USA (Assist. Prof. Robert Blanton), who is also co-advisor of the doctoral thesis.
For details on the project and PhD training program, please see GRK 2381 website.
A Master's degree in life sciences or equivalent is required for the position. Applicants should have a strong interest in working at the interface of biochemistry, cell biology and biomedicine. Ideally, candidates have previous experience with mice and/or fluorescence microscopy.
Please send your application (incl. CV and the names/e-mails of two references) indicating “GRK 2381-P4” to: Dr. Susanne Feil, e-mail: susanne.feilspam prevention@uni-tuebingen.de
The University of Tübingen seeks to increase the fraction of female scientists in research and teaching and particularly encourages applications from women. Disabled candidates are given preference if equally qualified.
